Daoist Studies Summer Seminar
Join us for our annual remote 5-day intensive Daoist Studies Summer Seminar 道學沙龍 (DSSS), with a specific focus on the history and practice of Daoist Yǎngshēng 養生 (Nourishing Life). This is the flagship event of the Center for Daoist Studies 道學中心. The seminar is scheduled from Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12 from 10am-4pm EST each day. In this seminar, Dr. Komjathy will share his expertise as a leading Daoist scholar-practitioner and translator of Daoist literature, including his nearly 30-year practice of Daoist Yǎngshēng. Drawing upon a Daoist study-practice model (SPM), we will explore associated Daoist approaches, history, literature, and views, with supplemental opportunities to engage in actual Daoist Yǎngshēng practice. (Please note that this is only loosely related to the history of modern Qìgōng 氣功, a topic that also will be addressed in the seminar.) No prior experience, including knowledge of classical Chinese, is necessary. All are welcome.
