Remote Daoist Contemplative Winter Retreat
Join us for a remote 5-day Daoist contemplative winter retreat. The specific focus will be tradition-based Daoist stillness practice (jìnggōng 靜功), variously referred to as jìngzuò 靜坐 (“Quiet Sitting”), shǒuyī 守一 (“guarding the One”), xīnzhāi 心齋 (“fasting of the heart-mind”), and zuòwàng 坐忘 (“sitting-in-forgetfulness”). The retreat is scheduled from Monday, January 9 to Friday, January 13 from 10am-4pm CST (16:00-22:00 UTC) each day. We will observe the following Daoist new monastic schedule:
10:00-11:00am: Daoist Quiet Standing 靜站 and Yǎngshēng 養生 (Nourishing Life) Practice
11:00am-12:00pm: Lùndào 論道 Talk on Daoist Practice-Realization
12:00-1:00pm: Meal Break, Rest, Walking, Personal Practice
1:00-2:00pm: Scripture Study 經學 (Texts TBA)
2:00-3:00pm: Open Conversation and Group Spiritual Direction
3:00-4:00pm: Daoist Quiet Sitting 靜坐 and Self-Massage 按摩
No prior experience necessary. All are welcome.
