Daoist Studies Summer Seminar

Join us for a remote 5-day intensive Daoist Studies Summer Seminar, with a specific focus on Daoist literature and translation. The seminar is scheduled from Monday, July 12 to Friday, July 16 from 10am-4pm each day. In this seminar, Dr. Komjathy will share his expertise as a leading scholar-practitioner of Daoist Studies and translator of Daoist literature. The seminar will take participants through foundational classical Chinese language (radicals/characters), Daoist history, and Daoist literature, with the aspiration to set a foundation for Daoist bilingual (Chinese-English) translation and an envisioned Daoist Translation Committee (DTC). In the process, we will give particular attention to “Daoist Chinese” and the relevance for Daoist study-practice, including Daoist ways of reading, interpreting, and translating Daoist literature. No prior experience necessary. All are welcome.
